It cannot be understated how important bye weeks are when it comes to the NFL season. That all-important week off allows teams to take stock during the 2022 NFL schedule and get important rest to prepare for the push to the playoffs and the 2023 Super Bowl. Let’s take a look at the 2022 NFL bye week schedule and which teams will be off each week.
NFL bye weeks in 2022
The introduction of the 18-week NFL season has somewhat increased the emphasis on when bye weeks fall. Timing of the bye can be incredibly important for a team to either get rest during a successful season or allow them to regroup after a tough start. Last year’s Super Bowl champions, the Los Angeles Rams, had their bye in Week 11 after a 7-3 start. They would go 5-2 down the stretch to finish 12-5 and win the NFC West.
The International Series games add an extra element. Teams that are traveling abroad to represent the league are given the option to take their bye immediately following that game or at another time. We’ve seen different approaches, with some teams choosing to go ahead and take the bye the following week while others have opted to push it back later into the season.
